DENVER, Colo. Gay Colorado lawmakers will be speaking about Republican Attorney General John Suthers' filing to a federal court asking for an injunction declaring Colorado's same-sex marriage ban unconstitutional.
Suthers and Democratic Gov. John Hickenlooper joined in the filing Wednesday, but they want the injunction to be delayed until the U.S. Supreme Court decides the issue.
Suthers' disagrees with last week's federal appeals court decision against Utah's gay marriage ban. But he says an injunction on Colorado's same-sex marriage ban will help expedite a resolution on the question of gay marriage.
The Colorado lawmakers plan to talk about the latest legal development Thursday morning. The gay lawmakers include Democratic Sen. Pat Steadman, one of the state's budget writers, and Democratic House Speaker Mark Ferrandino. Ferrandino is the first gay House speaker in Colorado history.
