This week's Grand Valley Power Student of the Week has won many academic awards in her life. Tuesday night at an awards ceremony, Fruita Monument High School senior Katie Wataha received the Highest Excellence Award, along with an award for her achievement in Social Studies. Katie was also named Co–Valedictorian. Katie says she's worked hard throughout her high school career to maintain her 4.2 GPA. This year she's enrolled in four AP classes. Science teacher Steve Cunningham says Katie's one of the brightest and best students he has ever had. Katie plans to attend CU Boulder in the fall and major in biological science. Eventually she hopes to become a doctor. Katie's also president of Fruita Monument's Spanish Club and the National Honors Society.
