A fire in Fruita completely destroys a family's home. Mesa County dispatchers received a call about 4:15 Saturday afternoon about a house fire in Fruita. The house, located at 951 19 road was engulfed in flames within minutes. According to the dispatchers, the owner said a crock pot that had been left on may have been the cause of the fire, however the cause of the fire is yet to be determined. A natural gas meter was also on fire and Xcel Energy was called out on the scene to assist. Members of the Lower Valley and Grand Junction Fire Departments are currently fighting the flames at the structure, but due to the severity of the fire, it looks as if the home is destroyed.
