An increase in mumps cases in the midwest has Mesa State College in Grand Junction on the offense.

Mumps is spread through saliva, and due to the high density population on a college campus, there needs to be some extra caution.

Mesa State has taken preventive action by posting a warning on its student health web page about mumps. It include symptoms of the illness and what to do if you do become sick. Students are required to have two MMR vaccines.

According to health officials the measles, mumps, and rubella vaccine has a ten percent failure rate. To date, there have been no confirmed mumps cases in Colorado.
