The man who founded the Western Slope Vietnam War Memorial in Fruita will be Grand Junction's new mayor. City Council members selected Jim Doody to fill the position last night at the end of their meeting. Doody was elected to the council in May 2005 and will replace Bruce Hill, who served in the position for the last two years. Also last night, the Council chose Bonnie Beckstein as the new Mayor Pro Tem. She replaces Council Member Gregg Palmer who served in that position for the past two years. The two positions are selected by the council every year during the first meeting in May.
