A single engine air tanker crashed Wednesday while trying to fight the Flat Bush Fire, burning 20 miles northwest of Meeker.

Officials with the bureau of land management say the pilot was conscious and mobile after the crash, he was flown to the hospital but only suffered minor injuries.

Meanwhile fire crews continue to work more than 30 fires believed to have been started by lightning in northwest Colorado. Some of the bigger ones include the Mayberry Fire burning near Craig; it has grown from 8,000 to 27,000 acres. Fire officials expect to have it fully contained by Thursday.

The more than 5-thousand acre prong fire has now been fully contained. The Jordan Fire has burned 500 acres, and at this point is zero percent contained. Structure protection engines are in place to protect homes east of the fire.
