Police Department Say Guard Your Scooter

Video will be available shortly.

the grand junction police department is warning scooter owners that traffic laws apply to the popular low–cost bikes...
and they face some unusual problems as well...

As gas prices continue to rise and the weather warms up more people are considering scooters and mo–peds as an alternative to cars.
However, the State of Colorado requires that an operator have a driver's license and be 16 or older to use them on the road.

In addition, police departments everywhere are seeing an increase in thefts. The vehicles are small and light, and can easily be picked up an placed in the trunk of many cars.

Police officers recommend a good lock, even an audible alarm as good insurance against having your scooter carried away. They also want owners of miniature pocket bikes to know that they cannot be used on public roads.
