Construction Shuts Down Section Of I-70

Construction of the 24 Rd., Interstate 70 interchange in Grand Junction will entered into a new phase Monday night and with it came some changes to traffic flow along I-70.
Both the east and westbound lanes will be shut down from exit 37 in Clifton to exit 22 at Horizon Dr. in Grand Junction, as crews begin placing support girders for the new bridge on 24 Rd.
The new bridge will connect two, two-lane round-abouts, flowing north and south traffic along 24 Rd. and also serving as the interchange with I–70.
Between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m, traffic will be diverted to the I–70 Business Loop and engineers with C-DOT say the main reason the roadway is being shutdown is one of safety.
During the same time, traffic along 24 Rd. from Canyon View Park on the corner of 24 and G Rd. to the Fellowship Church will be prohibited as well.
The $6M interchange is still on schedule to be done by mid–summer.
