McCain Vetter Defends Palin Review

St. Paul, Minn. (AP) John McCain's campaign continues to defend the vetting process behind the selection of Alaska governor Sarah Palin to be his running mate.

On ABC's “Good Morning America,” campaign adviser Nicole Wallace says Palin was upfront about her unmarried daughter's pregnancy during the vetting process.

Wallace says Palin volunteered the information and the campaign was forced to go public with it because of what she called “lewd and outrageously false rumors” being spread by
“Democratic-leaning blogs and a few in the mainstream” media. She didn't identify them.

The New York Post and Daily News identify the father of 17-year-old Bristol Palin's baby as Levi Johnston, a hockey player at her high school.
