Tragedy struck on Sunday as Mesa County Sheriff's investigators are called to the scene of an infant death on Orchard Mesa.
Just before 9:00 a.m., dispatch received a call of a 10–month–old child not breathing at a home in the 2900 block of Plymouth Rd.
When EMS crews arrived they tended to what sheriff's officials have described as an infant boy who was blue due to strangulation.
The boy was pronounced dead at the scene and authorities will not say how the boy died because they're awaiting the results of an autopsy.
Corporal Mark Montez says the death appears to have been an accident, but the investigation is ongoing.
