Boulder Causes I-70 Rollover Accident

Quite a mess on Interstate 70 Sunday morning when a rock slide forces a semi-tractor-trailer to roll on its side.
The crash between a boulder and the semi happened just about dawn on west bound I–70 about a mile east of the Palisade exit.
According to the Colorado State Patrol, the right lane of westbound I-70 was closed for most of the day after a boulder about four feet in diameter came crashing down on the interstate.
The Swift semi–tractor trailer driven by a 33-year-old Virginia man was unable to avoid the rock. The boulder shredded the truck's front right tire, the truck then went up an embankment and rolled onto its side.
The driver sustained only minor injuries in the accident.
The truck traveling from Denver to Phoenix was hauling 40–thousand pounds of cat food.
It took most of the day to transfer the contents onto another trailer before the shipment was back on its way.
