Hot ashes and compost combine to destroy a garage off of 29 1/2 Road in Fruitvale Sunday evening. A passer–by notified the building's owners of the fire. According to the Grand Junction Fire Department, the structure was fully engulfed when fire crews arrived on–scene around 5:30 p.m. The flames were quickly knocked down by the 19 firefighters and three apparatus. Damage to the building is estimated to be around $20,000.
