Denver (AP) Opponents to a Colorado ballot question on abortion are picking up their campaign to defeat the measure asking Coloradoans whether a fertilized egg is a person.
An advocacy group called the “no on 48 campaign” is rallying Wednesday at the University of Denver. The group opposes a proposed amendment that would make Colorado the first state to say when life begins in its state constitution.
Opponents and supporters both say the “personhood” amendment would lead to banning abortion if approved.
The “No On 48” group includes Planned Parenthood, the Colorado Medical Society and the Anti-Defamation League. Organizers say Wednesday's rally will kick off more intensive campaigning for the two months leading up to the vote. The rally is at the University of Denver Auraria campus.
