Preacher Comes To The Grand Valley To Share His Inspirational Story

A man who has overcome great obstacles, came to the Grand Valley Sunday to tell his inspiring story at the Landmark Baptist Church.

Dr. Monte Watts spoke to the congregation about a rare disease he got after he received a bad polio vaccine when he was ten years old. He spent two months in an iron lung, and the following two years in and out of hospitals - but he eventually recovered. In 1980, he converted to Christianity and has been preaching ever since. When his illness came out of remission in 1981, Dr. Watts was told he only had five to 10 years left to live.

Dr. Watts wrote a book about his recoveries, "From an Iron Lung to a Pulpit." He also travels to about 80 towns and cities across the U.S. each year to tell his story.
