A Palisade man is killed today after a pickup truck turns into the path of his motorcycle at one of Grand Junction's busiest intersections.
24-year-old Robert Mudge was southbound on 12th Street when a pickup truck driven by 19-year-old Kyle Bullock of Grand Junction turned west into the path of the motorcycle. Mudge was thrown from the motorcycle by the impact, which was so severe it sheared the front fork from the motorcycle.
Mudge was pronounced dead a short time later at St. Marys Hospital. Investigators say he was not wearing a helmet, but the crash was so severe he may not have survived had he been using one.
Patterson Road was closed for more than two hours so investigators from the Grand Junction Police Department could collect data. The investigation could take some time, according to Police Public Information Officer Linda Bowman, who says charges could result from the investigation.
