Tamarisk Troubles May Be Coming To An End In Mesa County
BLM and Palisade Insectary officials say they're experimental project to get rid of the plant is working
In July, the agencies released 5,000 beetles to attack the plant that dries up rivers, kills cotton trees and unleashes large amounts of salt.
Today insectary officials said tamarisk has been eliminated from Gateway to the state line on the Dolores river.
They plan to use beetles to help other communities fight Tamarisk across the state.
