Anchorage, Alaska (AP) Sarah Palin's husband is refusing to testify in the investigation of whether his wife abused her power as governor of Alaska.

Todd Palin is among 13 people subpoenaed by the Alaska legislature. His lawyer has sent a letter to the lead investigator saying Palin objected to the probe and would not appear to testify.

A spokesman for the McCain-Palin campaign says the investigation is no longer legitimate because it has been subjected to what he calls “complete partisanship.”

Sarah Palin initially welcomed the bipartisan investigation into accusations that she dismissed the state's public safety commissioner because he refused to fire her ex-brother-in-law, a state trooper.

But she has increasingly opposed it since John McCain tapped her to be his running mate.

Key Alaskan lawmakers say that uncooperative witnesses are effectively sidetracking the so-called “Troopergate” probe until after Election Day.
