Schools Honored With Ancient Cornerstone Ceremonies

A centuries–old tradition is carried out during the cornerstone dedication at the Pear Park Elementary School. Masons from all over Colorado performed the formal ceremony which dates back to the 13th century. A time capsule sealed for 100 years was installed behind the cornerstone. Pear Park Elementary School Principal Cheri Taylor says it's an honor to receive a cornerstone from the Masonic Grand Lodge of Colorado. The Masonic Grand Lodge of Colorado will lay cornerstones at each of School District 51's new school buildings.
They include Pear Park Elementary School, Bookcliff Middle School and the Career Center, The Dual Immersion Academy, The Fruita 8–9 School and Rim Rock Elementary School.
