Dozens of kids and parents pack the Mesa County Library District's central branch in Grand Junction today as "Paws, Claws, Scales and Tales' kicks off the summer reading program. The program encourages kids to pick up a book during the summer when school isn't in session by giving them incentives to read. Kids receive a coupon for each book read and that coupon is placed in a box for their school, which wins a fall pizza party and certificate.
Reading activities continue throughout the summer at various locations in Mesa County. For more information, call 241-4726 or go to their website at www.mcpld.org.
