Peace Officer Training Program Announced At Mesa State College

Video will be available shortly.

Members of local law enforcement join administrators from Mesa State College Wednesday to announce a new course of study that will put new peace officers on the streets of Mesa County.

The Peace Officer Standards and Training Certification, also called "POST" will be based at Western Colorado Community College. The program will train students in the psychology of crime, tactical driving, proper gun use and other aspects of law enforcement. In addition to college instructors, the program will also use officers and equipment of the Grand Junction Police Department and the Mesa County Sheriff's Office for training.

The POST program is one of three in western Colorado.
