National Trails Day Gets Some Locals Outdoors

By  |

The first Saturday of June is National Trails Day. The day is designated to encourage people to get outside and on the trails. Here in Grand Junction, some local parks and trails celebrate national trail day with clean–up activities.

Up at the Tabeguache Trail Head, off Monument Road volunteers met up with the Bureau of Land Management and the Colorado Plateau Mountain Bike Trail Association also known as COPMOBA, to help clean up the trail. REI sponsored the event by giving COPMOBA a ten thousand dollar check to help with trail restoration projects.

24 volunteers participated in the clean up at the Tabawache Trail,
and for all their hard work they got a BBQ lunch.
