Free Gun Locks Available This Week In Grand Junction

Video will be available shortly.

Statistics from the federal Centers for Disease Control show lives are being saved as locks are used on guns to prevent accidental shooting...
and many of those locks are free.

Project Childsafe is the largest gun–lock program in the country, and has given away more than 35 million locks to citizens and law enforcement.

A spokesperson for Operation Childsafe says many states require gun locks, but they should be used whether required or not. He says many gun manufacturers now provide gun locks with each purchase.

Project Childsafe is a program of the National Shooting Sports Foundation. Funding for the free locks comes from the U.S. Department of Justice.

The free gun locks are available Monday and Tuesday at the K–Mart in North Avenue, and Wednesday through Friday at the Sportsman's Warehouse in Grand Mesa shopping center on Highway 6&50.
