GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. UPDATE from GJPD: The Grand Junction Police Department responded to a motor vehicle crash at 8:28 p.m. at 7th Street and North Avenue.

A 66-year-old woman was driving a Kia Sorento traveling North on 7th Street and a Dodge Neon operated by a 30-year-old male was traveling West on North Avenue. When the driver of the Sorento turned from 7th Street, on the North side of the median, and went the wrong way into Westbound traffic on North Avenue, the two vehicles collided head on.

The Sorento careened off of the Neon and struck a parked Hyundai Fit, occupied by a 32-year-old female, parked on the West side of 729 North Avenue, knocking the parked car into the building at that location. The driver of the Kia Sorento was transported to the hospital to be checked for injuries, which appear to be minor at this time.

There were no injuries to the occupant of the Neon or to the occupant of the parked Hyundai. The driver of the Sorento was charged with reckless driving and DUI.

No further information is available at this time.

A three car collision causing part of North Avenue to shut down West of 7th Street Saturday evening sends one woman to the hospital.
