SILT, Colo. KKCO 11 News has confirmed three people were killed in a helicopter crash late Monday morning near Silt.
The small helicopter was in the area doing line inspections when the aircraft hooked a power line. All three people on board died. The company that contracted out the work is not being released at this time.
Walter Stowe with the Garfield County Sheriff's Office says the scene is currently blocked off and likely will be for several days as the investigation is completed.
The helicopter is in a ravine along County Road 331, south of the town of Silt. A two mile stretch of the road is closed for the investigation, local traffic is asked to use alternate routes.
Identies of those in the crash have not been released. They will be sent by the Coroner once autopsies are completeted and family members are notified.
