Scores of people showed up in Fruita today to walk in honor of the millions of people around the world who have to walk to find water, food, and even to get medical care.
Grand Valley Peace and Justice organized the less than one mile walk that began at Sacred Heart Church and ended at the Fruita circle. Holding the walk in Fruita was meant to point out that there is a growing need for the homeless and hungry beyond Grand Junction's city limit's.
Last year nearly five–thousand dollars was raised by Grand Valley walkers.
25 percent of funds raised today will go directly to local food banks.
