Residents Try New Voting Machines

Residents of Mesa County get the chance to try out new voting machines today in preparation for the August 8th primary vote.

The new machines are all–electronic and use touch screens for making selections. Votes are recorded on a small box–like data controller. One of the major advantages to the system is that voters can change their ballot as often as needed until a final decision is made.

The 240 machines cost more than one million dollars, half of which is paid by the federal government as part of the Help America Vote Act.
