Denver (AP) House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says Congress may need to go back into session to pass an economic stimulus package worth about $150 billion.
Pelosi, who was in Denver Wednesday to tour a hospital, praised the Federal Reserve's decision to cut a key interest rate by a half percentage point but said more needs to be done.
Pelosi says the nation needs a stimulus package to create jobs by investing in infrastructure and to provide food stamps and unemployment insurance for people who have lost their jobs.
She says President Bush recently vetoed a $60 billion package, but because the economy is weakening, a $150 billion package is probably needed now.
His trial is scheduled for Jan. 12.
