A fast-moving fire is threatening several homes near Hotchkiss.

The Delta County Sheriff's office says the fire is in the Redlands Mesa area just outside the town.

Delta County Sheriff Fred Mckee tells 11 NEWS he has little information to release right now but did tell us that several homes are threatened in the area of "P-25" road..

He says winds are helping the flames to grow. Sheriff Mckee also says they do not know how the fire started.

The sheriff said he was so busy coordinating the firefighting efforts that he didn't have time to say anymore.

We have a crew on the way to the scene and we will bring you more information as soon as it becomes available.
