Denver (AP) A man is facing multiple charges, including first-degree murder, in the death of a toddler and the wounding of the child's father.

Forty-one-year-old Earl Ryan is also facing a charge of child abuse resulting in death, attempted homicide and first-degree assault in Sunday morning's shooting and standoff.

Authorities Monday identified the child as 2-year-old Noah Crookham. His father, Thomas Crookham, suffered minor injuries.

Police say Ryan lives in the basement of a duplex where neighbors say the child's mother lives. Police say the child's parents were arguing and the suspect somehow got involved.

The suspect surrendered without incident after talking with police negotiators.
