A United Airlines flight enroute to California makes an unexpected layover in Grand Junction Saturday night. The United 737 enroute from Denver to San Jose was forced to make an emergency landing at Walker Field Airport. According to airport spokesperson Charlie Novinskie, the pilot reported a hot engine indicator light came on. The pilot shut down the engine and proceeded to land at Walker Field. It landed safely about 7 pm. The Grand Junction Fire Department was standing by in case of problems. After some tests it was determined the plane was unsafe to fly. Another aircraft was scheduled to arrive at 9:30 p-m to take the 47 passengers and four crew members on to San Jose.
