Mesa County School District 51 Board Members adopted its 2006–2007 budget Tuesday and the numbers indicate vast improvement for the financial stability of the district as a whole.
The $128M budget was introduced last month and is an increase of roughly $10M from a year ago. Nearly 75 percent of the funds will go towards student needs and school officials say this budget reflects a major rebound in the district's financial status from just a few years ago. State law requires all school districts to adopt a budget by June 30, however, the board can go back and amend the budget if the need arises in October.
