Mosquito Control Awareness Week

Video will be available shortly.

Mosquito Control Awareness Week is June 26th through July 1st. The Mesa County Health Department is reminding people about the importance of mosquito control.

Mosquitoes lay their eggs in standing water, and after seven to ten days, they emerge as flying adults. It does not take a lot of standing water to make a good breeding zone, so residents are urged to look around their homes for potential breeding areas. This includes clogged rain gutters, wading pools, and bird baths.

For standing water that can't be removed, larvicide can be used to treat the water. The larvicide kills the larvae, but is still safe for animals to drink.
