AMR Employees Bid Farewell

Video will be available shortly.

After serving Mesa County for a decade, the time has come for American Medical Response to say goodbye and hand over the city's ambulance service to the Grand Junction Fire Department. Friday was the last day on the job for AMR's 27 employees. Douglas Moore with AMR says it's a sad day, but that life must go on. Most of Friday was spent packing up medical supplies and getting ambulances ready to re–distribute around the country. Moore says it's been an honor serving the grand valley. At midnight on Friday AMR will turn over its radios to the Grand Junction Fire Department who'll take over as the city's sole ambulance provider. A third of AMR's employees have been hired on with the fire department, and six have been relocated to other AMR centers. The company will hold a farewell BBQ for its employees Saturday.
