A Majority Of Pets Terrified Of Fireworks

While fireworks may be fun for us, a majority of our pets find them terrifying- making it the busiest day of the year for Mesa County Animal Services. Officials with Mesa County Animal Services say business is increased by 30 to 40 percent every Fourth of July. All Animal Control officers are out patrolling the streets. Executive Director Penny McCarty says she's seen pets get so frightened from fireworks that they've jumped through glass windows. She says if you plan to leave your pet alone during the Holiday, put them in kennels, close the blinds and turn on a radio to drown out the sound of the fireworks. If you're pet does go missing be sure to check with Mesa County Animal Services as they may have picked it up.
