Junction Man Arrested for Drug Possession, Possible Robbery

A four–and–a–half hour standoff this morning at a local motel leads to the arrest of a Grand Junction man for drug violations and possible armed robbery.

Police officers responded to a parking lot near the Affordable Inn on Horizon Drive just after 12:30 this morning. There, the victim told officers he saw the man who robbed him drive to the motel next door and enter a room. Officers and members of the Grand Junction SWAT team tried for hours to get the man out of the room. He finally surrendered peacefully.

Police spokesperson Linda Bowman says no-one was removed from their rooms, but people were prevented leaving and entering the motel in the interest of public safety.

31–year–old Mickey Manaway was arrested for drug violations. He could be charged with armed robbery pending further investigation.
