Commissioner Candidates Square Off

The political campaign season continues with the two republican candidates for Mesa County Commissioner in District two facing off for local rotarians. Reford Theobold and Steve Acquafresca participated in a debate hosted by the Redlands Rotary Club. The debate is one of several taking place between candidates running in races to be decided in the August primary. Experience was the word of the day. Theobold touting his 18 years on the Grand Junction City Council and Acquafresca pushing his six years as a State Representative for District 58 on the Western Slope. Both are hoping to replace outgoing Commissioner Tillie Bishop. The two will square off in the republican primary on August 8th. The winner will take on Democrat Jim Witt in the November general election.
