Starting Friday, October 24 and going through the weekend, until Sunday, October 26, federal, state and local cops are conducting a statewide sweep for sex offenders who have failed to register their address, or have moved and not registered their new residence.

Members of the U.S. Marshal's office, Colorado Bureau of Investigation, and local law enforcement offices are all working in conjunction in what they say is an important time to of the year.

Deputy Marshal David Floyd says Halloween is an important time to take notice. Floyd says, "So we just want people to be aware that this is a potential problem something that they need to think about, and to check the websites occasionally. Look at the photographs and if they recognize somebody to please call. Especially with the anticipation of Halloween coming up and you know it's time for a lot of kids to be out and something you know they are out alone."
