$1.74 a gas? Is it 2001 again?

Gas below two dollars a gallon has arrived on the Western Slope.

And we can attribute the low price to a gas war that's going on between two neighboring gas stations on Broadway.

As of midnight, the Western Convenience store located at 2525 Broadway, had the Valero corner store at 2520 Broadway beat for the lowest price in the land. Overnight, the two stores dropped their prices dramatically. The Western Convenience station is currently selling gas for 1.74 for a gallon of regular and Valero has dropped their price to 1.76 per gallon...

It will be interesting to see if prices drop anymore today as these stations battle it out.

The current average for a gallon of regular gasoline in Grand Junction is 2.42 and these two stations are sitting well below that.
