Republican Senate Candidates Square Off

Video will be available shortly.

Following a special session where illegal immigration was at the forefront. The two republican candidates for State Senate met to debate everything from school vouchers to transportation. Matt Smith and Josh Penry faced off this afternoon in a debate hosted by the Redlands Rotary Club, where Rotarian's asked the two candidates various questions. Experience was the word of the day. Matt Smith says his 8 years in the house make him the best choice. While Penry says he's ready to push Western Colorado's agenda in the Senate.
When it comes to the issue of illegal immigration both candidates agree something must be done to solve the problem of identifying illegal immigrants in our country. The two will face off in the Republican Primary on August 8th. This is an important primary for the two because there is no democratic candidate.
