A woman is recovering after being attacked by the bear early this Saturday morning while camping.

According to the Colorado Division of Wildlife, the woman was awakened about 6:30 a.m.in the Jumbo Lake Area by a tug on her sleeping bag.

The woman screamed, which made the black bear lash out at her. The woman suffered from scratches and puncture wounds around her right thigh. She is currently being treated at St. Mary's Hospital.

The bear did run off, and at this time the Division of Wildlife is working with the USDA to hunt and track the bear to be euthanized. To keep safe while camping, keep all food items out of your tent. Food should be stored hanging at least ten feet above the ground or in a bear proof container.
