Glacier Ice Arena opened its doors to the public for the first time Saturday.
Skaters of all ages and abilities took to the ice after a ceremony blessing the rink. This rink is the first ice arena in Grand Junction and it has been more than a decade in the making. Ten years ago Ice Skating Inc. tried to open the rink with donations, but it just never happened. Years later, the Coos family took on the project for a profit venture.
The rink will offer figure skating and hockey programs as well as holding open skate nights with music and light shows.
