State Highway Looking More Like Muddy River

Heavy rain swamped parts of western Colorado leaving behind quite a mess. Crews in Collbran have been working to clear a part of highway 330. Torrential rain fall has made the water of Plateau Creek look a little more like chocolate milk. David Griffith welcomed the rain which doused his parched land of a thousand acres.

But just west of town the rain caused some problems for motorists on Highway 330. Collbran resident Ted Walker says it's the first time he's seen the 8 foot culverin under the highway flood. The clogged culverin caused flood water to spill onto the highway closing it in both directions for more than an hour.

Crews had to spend a good part of the day cleaning up the massive muddy mess. But that's not all, along with the water this storm also struck another nerve. Lightning caused several small grass fires.
