BLM wildfire crews have been stretched thin today checking on wildfires that broke out in the wake of yesterday's thunderstorms.
As of this morning crews were on 19 fires, and another was being allowed to burn in a wilderness area for ecological restoration. The biggest of the fires is just five acres, but crews are concerned that the heat could cause more to break out. BLM spokesperson Mel Lloyd says a number of crews are on fires around the county, and one single-engine air tanker is on call. Ten smoke jumpers were also on fires this morning, leaving two on stand–by.
