BLM Cautions Outdoor Users

Recent rains have made some backcountry roads inaccessible,
and the Bureau of Land Management reminds recreational users that they need to take responsibility for their safety.

Coal Creek Canyon Road near Cameo in the bookcliffs is in especially bad shape according to the agency, and other roads may be in similar shape.

Land managers say travelers should carry extra food and water with them as well as other safety gear even on days when the weather is sunny, because monsoon rains can come at any time and make getting out of the backcountry impossible. As always, people should also let someone know where they are going and an expected return time and day so help can be sent if needed.
