Demolition of a historic building to make way for a downtown parking garage in Grand Junction reveals an old business sign dating back to about the 1920's. Lifelong resident Pat Gromley says the demolished building on 5th and Rood Avenue was once Lane & Company, a sheet metal and plumbing business. According to Gromley, Lane & Company moved locations in the 1950's to 5th and Glenwood Avenue. The Law Firm Young, Hawk and Smith then called the building home. When they moved out Intermountain Stationary moved in. In the late 1940's and 50's in the basement of the building was one of only two bowling alleys in Grand Junction.
