County Coffee Gives Public Chance To Meet Officials

Today residents shared stories and concerns with elected officials of Mesa County during the first– ever County Coffee.

Members of the Board of Commissoners often take to the road to hear comments from citizens, but today's coffe klatch offered the chance to meet other officials including Sheriff Stan Hilkey, county surveyor Lee Stiles and public trustee Barbara Brewer.

One citizen says he expected to have only a few seconds to speak, but instead was able to talk informally as long as he wished. Public trustee Barara Brewer says she rarely gets the chance to meet the public outside her work, but says she is impressed at how well-informed the public is about the issues.

Many say the informal setting encourages them to come and speak their mind. The next meeting is scheduled for September 22nd at 11AM.
The location is yet to be determined.
