Like all other airports across the country Walker Field is under a code orange or high terror alert after a trans–Atlantic terror plot is thwarted by authorities in London. Following the announcement Thursday of several arrests in connection with a terror plot aimed at flights leaving Britain to the United States the Transportation Security Administration sprung into action implementing new security measures and strictly enforcing those already in effect.
So far the new security measures, while an inconvenience to some travelers at Walker Field Airport, have been implemented with little disruption to passengers. There was a longer than usual line at the security check point, but It was nothing compared to wait times at airports in bigger cities across the country. For some the heightened security measures stirred fears about the safety of air travel, but for others it was just like any other day.
