141,670 bricks and 4400 tons of concrete later the new dormitories at Mesa State College are officially dedicated today.
Begun last September, the 88–bed hall comes in on schedule and under budget by 150,000 dollars. The layout includes space for studying and getting together, and has single and double rooms in a pod design with eight students sharing a common space.
A Mesa State spokesperson says the dorm also has full Internet access and a flat-screen television in each pod. It's been so popular that rooms have been booked since spring.
The new residence hall at least temporarily eases the need for housing at the college. In the past some students have called hotels temporary homes until room became available at the college.
