Hundreds Pay Their Respects To Local Legend

More than 200 people spent this Saturday paying their respects to one of Grand Junction's leading philanthropists. Loyd files passed away Tuesday at the age of 107.

Saturday afternoon the local legend was laid to rest at Memorial Gardens. At the service family and friends recalled some of the many generous contributions files made to Grand Junction and the surrounding communities. Those who knew him say he was as much an humanitarian as he was an entrepreneur.

Many say Files gave bigheartedly when he donated a little league park to the city and helped establish the research library at the Museum of the West. Both facilities bear his name.
