The plans to build a reservoir on east Orchard Mesa to deal with the continual water needs in not just Mesa County but across Colorado, takes another small step forward Monday.
Western Colorado Waters Inc., a group of area water boards, voted in favor of having a study done for the Grand Valley reservoir, which will include input from hydrologists, geologists and will also determine if the project is feasible. However, even if the project gets the eventual go ahead, residents are looking at decades before seeing the finished product.
The study's results will be taken to back to the Colorado River Basin round table and if approved it will then go before the state's water authorities.
